www.brennels.nl<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n Brandnetelmode<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Brennels heeft in provincie Flevoland (NL) eigen brandnetelplantages en ontwikkelt daar een innovatief productieproces voor het losweken van de hoogwaardige vezels. Het netelgaren wordt gemengd met katoen. De brandnetelvezel is van nature een holle vezel die een isolerende werking geeft tijdens het dragen. Uit de praktijk blijkt dat brandnetelstof door die holle vezels makkelijker aanverft.<\/span><\/p>\n De kleuren worden daardoor mooi en diep. Wanneer de brandnetelvezel gemengd wordt met andere vezelsoorten, neemt het die eigenschappen over. Door brandnetelvezel te mengen met bijvoorbeeld wol, worden de eigenschappen en de uitstraling van de wol in de stof versterkt.<\/span><\/p>\n Brandnetelvezel is 30 tot 50% lichter dan katoenvezel. Daarnaast is de vezel ook sterker dan die van katoen. In de toekomst kunnen we dus hele mooie lichte en sterke stoffen maken. Daar werken we hard aan.<\/span><\/p>\n Mode<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n De mooie, kleine collectie wordt ontworpen door modeontwerpster Rianne de Witte. De productie en confectie van de kleding gebeurt voornamelijk in en rondom Nederland, lekker dichtbij. Brennels has its own nettles plantations in the Dutch impoldered province of Flevoland where it develops an innovative production process for separating the high-grade fibres. The nettle yarn is being mixed with cotton. When the nettle fibre is being mixed with other kinds of fibre, it takes over the qualities of the other fibre. When mixing nettle fibre with e.g. wool, the qualities and the effect of the wool are enhanced in the fabric.<\/span><\/p>\n Nettle fibre is 30 to 50% lighter than cotton fibre. Furthermore, the fibre is stronger than the cotton one.<\/span><\/p>\n This means we can make very beautiful, light and strong fabrics in the future. We are working hard on this.<\/span><\/p>\n Hollow<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The stinging nettle fibre is a hollow fibre by nature, providing an insulating effect when being worn. In practice it turns out that dying nettle fabric is easier because of the hollow fibres. The colours are wonderful and deep. Our nettle plantation not only serves our own collection, we also supply the British company Camira Fabrics with our nettle fibers. Camira Fabrics blends our nettle fibers with wool in woven fabrics. These fabrics are mainly used as furnishing for office chairs. \nTot half augustus kun je de grondstof voor de mode van volgend jaar zien groeien op het park. De brandnetels worden daarna geoogst.
\nVan brandnetelveld naar kledingrek is op Brennels Buiten een korte wandeling, maar een groot aantal stappen in het productieproces.
